The DuoItaliano met by accident in an Italian shop in Delft in January 2004. Marco was shopping for food and happened to be
there, Gianni was trying to get off with one of the nice girls there. At a certain point, he realized she wasn’t listening
and decided to try to get her attention. Then Marco overheard Gianni saying to her that he was going home to compose some
songs with his wonderful acoustic 6-strings guitar. At this point he stopped him, asking if he was really a musician. That
was the beginning of duoitaliano.
So we decided to play a bit together, just for fun to see how we got on. After the summer, DuoItaliano was ready to perform
live. The first concert was at the restaurant “Melí Maló” in Delft. Next concert was at the Italian Association
Delft, a great success (!!). In 2005, DuoItaliano performed at the restaurant “Fast and Delicious” in Rotterdam.
After that concert, it was clear that DuoItaliano had a future. From then on private parties were also on our agenda and are
still one of our most enjoyable and successful events!
DuoItaliano produced their first CD, totally self-recorded, self-arranged, self-produced, self-everything In October 2005.
In December we were invited to promote our music in Amsterdam on Radio Salto which was also broadcast on Internet.
Last event of 2005 was the live performance at the “Open Podium” held in the Café Vlaanderen in Delft from which
you can see some pictures on this site.
